Le parole del vino

Zisola è  il nome di una delle tante contrade che circondano la città di Noto, dalla parte più alta si riescono ad intravvedere i palazzi e le cupole delle Chiese della capitale del barocco,  il cui centro storico, dal 2002, è stato dichiarato Patrimonio dell'Umanità da parte dell'UNESCO.   Zisola deriva dall'arabo "al-'Azīza" significa "La splendida" e indica anche il nome di una cantina che, dal 2003, appartiene alla famiglia  Mazzei, di origine  toscana e di nobile lignaggio.
Il cuore della proprietà, che si estende per 50 ettari, è l'imponente dimora padronale dei primi dell'800,   circondata da basse costruzioni che fanno da cornice alla corte dove si affaccia l'edificio dai curiosi infissi rosso ciliegia.

Lo  splendore della  rigogliosa e fitta vegetazione,  i filari ordinati delle viti che accarezzano i dolci declivi, gli alberi di agrumi, di mandorle e di ulivi, la fragranza inebriante dei gelsomini appena sbocciati, la bouganville bianca e fucsia,  fanno pensare al passaggio degli arabi, alle geometrie del giardino islamico, simbolo del paradiso e dell'eterna giovinezza, capace di infondere pace e serenità.

La vendemmia è già iniziata nell'azienda,  i tini sono gonfi del  prezioso succo, l'aria è pregnante di profumi, la promessa di una  buona annata è assicurata.

La cultura del vino, in quest'angolo di Sicilia,  è forte e radicata, legata all'immagine di Bacco inghirlandato e ai fasti dell'antichità greco-romana,  attraversa  periodi di altalenante fortuna  per rinascere a nuova vita solo di recente, nei primi anni  del 2000, quando un gruppo di imprenditori decide di invertire la tendenza e fare vino di qualità. Nel 2003  è sorta un'associazione "La strada del vino"  tesa alla valorizzazione delle eccellenze del territorio, in particolare della tradizione enogastronomica dell'area del Val di Noto. Sulla scia di questo rinnovato interesse nei confronti della cultura enologica, si pone il progetto della famiglia Mazzei che, comprendendo le potenzialità del territorio e mettendo  a disposizione la sua centenaria esperienza, ha realizzato un cospicuo investimento   per offrire una ricca gamma  di etichette, dall'Azisa,  bianco doc, blend di  grillo e  catarratto, allo Zisola, rosso doc, 100% nero d'Avola, Doppiozeta, prodotto di punta, Nero d'Avola in purezza, Achilles, di recente produzione, 100% Sirah, Effe Emme, dalle iniziali di Filippo Mazzei, con uve 100% Petit Verdot.

La produzione dell'azienda non si ferma solo ai vini, due varietà di olio e la potente Grappasessanta, realizzata con vinacce di Nero d'Avola, completano la prestigiosa  scelta di prodotti.

E' possibile effettuare, su prenotazione, un interessante wine tour & tasting,  verrete introdotti in un ambiente di autentica bellezza dal responsabile aziendale Andrea Di Pino.

Non di rado la cantina Zisola si apre ad eventi privati, degnamente organizzati dall'eclettico sommelier Walter Guarrasi, instancabile e appassionato  "Wine coach",  sempre pronto a riunire amici e appassionati  del mondo del vino con la voglia di scambiare due chiacchiere tra una visita in cantina e una sana passeggiata tra le vigne.  Con il suo sorriso aperto e accattivante,  si destreggia con eleganza e  abilità oratoria  nella descrizione di vini e di abbinamenti vino/cibo.  L'invito alla degustazione è un'esperienza sensoriale completa, dalla vista, all'olfatto al gusto, tutti i  sensi sono coinvolti e impegnati. E' un susseguirsi di immagini e suggestioni, i vini bianchi si trasformano in  bouquet assortiti di fiori e frutti, di zagara e  bergamotto, tabacco e vaniglia, quelli rossi in sentori di bacche,  spezie e frutta matura, legno di rosa, liquirizia,  profumi di erba e foglie bagnate. 

Le sue parole sono un battito d'ali che  "costringono" a frugare in ricordi lontani, nella memoria del passato, sono echi dell'infanzia, viaggi esotici, terre lontane, sono allegre risate,  abbracci sinceri perché è risaputo, il vino, oltre ad essere un tratto caratteristico dell'economia e della cultura di un luogo,  è convivialità, complicità, condivisione, è  un collante, rinsalda i legami sociali, accende il confronto, scioglie la tristezza e apre il cuore all'amicizia.

The words of the wine

Zisola is the name of one of the many districts surrounding the city of Noto, from the highest part you can glimpse the palaces and domes of the churches of the Baroque capital, whose historic center, since 2002, has been declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Zisola, whose name derives from the Arabic "al-'Azīza" means "La splendida" and also indicates the name of a winery that, since 2003, belongs to the Mazzei family, of Tuscan origin and of noble lineage.

The heart of the property, which extends for 50 hectares, is the imposing mansion of the early 800, surrounded by low buildings that frame the courtyard where the building overlooks the curious cherry-red fixtures.

The splendor of the lush and dense vegetation, the neat rows of vines caressing the gentle slopes, the citrus, almond and olive trees, the inebriating fragrance of the newly blossomed jasmines, the white and fuchsia bougainvillea, suggest the passage of the Arabs , the geometry of the Islamic garden, a symbol of paradise and eternal youth, able to instill peace and serenity.

The harvest has already begun in the company, the vats are swollen with the precious juice, the air is full of perfumes, the promise of a good vintage is assured.

The culture of wine, in this corner of Sicily, is strong and rooted, linked to the image of Bacchus inghirlandato and to the glories of the Greco-Roman antiquity, through periods of fluctuating luck to be reborn to new life only recently, in the early in 2000, when a group of entrepreneurs decided to reverse the trend and make quality wine. In 2003 a "La strada del vino" association was set up aimed at enhancing the excellence of the territory, in particular the food and wine tradition of the Val di Noto area.
